Printing Instructions

Containers • Trailers • Accessories • Surface Prints

Before You Print (Strongly Recommended)

Skill Level: Beginner–Advanced

Before printing in full color:

  1. Print the model once on regular paper in grayscale.

  2. Practice scoring, folding, cutting, and gluing.

  3. Confirm fit and assembly sequence.

Once comfortable, proceed with final printing.

Paper Type (Critical)

Recommended Paper

  • Matte Photo Paper or Presentation Paper

  • Size: 8.5" × 11" (Letter)

  • Print quality: Best Photo or High Quality

❌ Do not use cardstock or porous paper

These significantly reduce print quality and complicate folding.

Paper Weight Recommendations

N Scale

  • Standard models (containers, trailers):
    220 g/m² (approx. 0.48 lb)

  • Small or complex models (accessories, tank containers, ArroWedge):
    128 g/m² (approx. 0.28 lb)

HO Scale

  • Standard models:
    220 g/m² or heavier

  • Small or complex models:
    220 g/m² recommended

Some models require printing different sections on different paper weights. This will be noted on the model sheets.

Printer Settings (Very Important)

  • Print at 100% size

  • Do not:

    • Scale

    • Rotate

    • Center

    • Reduce to printable area

  • Use Photo or Borderless mode when available

⚠️ Printer defaults often reduce size automatically. Always double-check settings.

Surface Prints (All Scales)

  • Print on light matte photo or presentation paper

  • Recommended weight: 128 g/m²

  • Surface kits include multiple sheets:

    • First sheet = layout guide

    • Additional sheets = fill areas

Surface prints are designed to blend only after full areas are completed.
Partial sections may appear blurry or repetitive until finished.

Weathering joints with pastels and a soft brush is encouraged.
